My current body of work explores five stages of regeneration, offering a profound reflection on ancestral knowledge, the significance of collective memory, unity, stillness, and our ability to shape unseen futures. The cinder block pedestals, made from charcoal, symbolize the tangible weight of memory and the enduring traces of erasure. As both residue and resource, charcoal becomes a fertile agent—transforming the past to nourish the future.
Each of the five vessels represents a stage within this regenerative cycle: nightfall, first light, passage, community, and dreams. Their forms recall Mesoamerican ceramic vessels used in cacao ceremonies, evoking both fragility and endurance. Through the elemental processes of freezing and firing, these forms translate ritual gestures into chemically bound matter—acts of transformation that alchemize memory into material form.
These vessels are not static objects but living entities—carriers of intertwined histories and the latent potential for renewal. They embody a cosmology of regeneration, where remembrance becomes creation, and stillness serves as a space from which new worlds might emerge.
The iconography of the work deepens this narrative. Un Destello de Luz (2025) invokes a deity, a divine woman in the act of giving birth, symbolizing creation and continual renewal. Sin Lumbre (2025) portrays a sleeping ceiba tree—an ancestral axis linking Xibalba to the living world. Vínculos (2025) depicts two hands clasping, representing the strength of unity and the foundations of community-building. Viendo con el Alma and Lapsos en Tránsito (2025) evoke dreams and temporal stillness—states that invite reflection, regeneration, and inner vision. These works channel a quiet energy of remembrance and rebirth, where the act of seeing becomes an act of becoming—contributing to the unfolding of a shared and collective future.
